Foundry Sand State Resource Locator

Foundries use sand in the mold-making process and generate approximately 10 million tons or more of sand each year. Once the sand becomes structurally unsuitable for foundry use, most of it is discarded in municipal or private landfills. This resource is designed to provide an overview of current state foundry sand reuse regulations and policies; acceptable reuse options and restrictions; permit, testing, recordkeeping and reporting requirements; and state agency contact information. For additional information, visit the Beneficial Use Portal.

Our foundry sand tool includes information for 25 states (where the majority of foundries are located). Use the pull-down below to access state information.
